I am so glad that FipaDoc managed to host a theatrical screening of their magnificent festival in Biarritz! The event is due 12-17 June and The Wedding Cake will be screened hors concours during the gala that will be held on 16 June, in between awards.
It is really exciting to think of my short on the big screen again, after so many months of online festivals! How I wish I were able to attend…
This is sweet! The Wedding Cake is finalist in the animation category of the Greenwich Village Film Festival, that has reached its 6th edition this year! The event will be online, which gives me the splendid opportunity of participating despite the distance!
A live Q&A will be held on March 12, on Friday, at 11 am local time, that is 5 pm CET (my time!). I have the honor of having the festival co-founder and president Alessia Gatti as moderator: I am so grateful and thrilled!
The organizers have decided to postpone the screenings to next year and host a double edition then, due to the current COVID-19 situation in the UK.
But winners will be announced at the end of March by the international jury.
The festival is scheduled to have both a live screening program in four Catalan cities (Barcelona-Girona-Lleida-St. Feliu de Llobregat) from 8 to 11 April, and then an online version 12 to 25 April!
I AM JUMPING WITH JOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I JUST WON THE 49TH EDITION OF THE FICC!!!!!
I can’t believe it!!! The Wedding Cake was chosen as best shortfilm for this edition of the FICC Festival Internacional de Cine de Cartagena! Starting at 31:34 you can watch the presenter introducing the mayor of the City of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón Hernández, announcing my victory, and following that myself thanking for the win, super emotional! I did that in Spanish, with the help of my super friend Giulia Colavolpe Severi!
Here is the English translation of my short speech:
“I am delighted to win this award. I would never have imagined winning at such a big and prestigious festival, among so many fantastic competitors. I am humbled and moved by your appreciation and I enjoy it even more because this short film means so much to me. It is a pilot for a larger art project on prostitution and pornography that I hope to complete one day. Winning this award today gives me hope and makes me feel supported in my desire that one day that larger project will see the light of day. Once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart!”
