Finally online on Youtube my new video, dedicated to the beautiful work of Maestro Max Fuschetto.
My artistic collaboration with Max began a few years ago, when I started listening to his first album, “Popular Games” with enormous fascination. A great communion of musical sensibility led us naturally to work together on his music, and it was fantastic for me to follow the development of this new, wonderful album step by step. We met many times to listen to it, exchanging opinions and feelings of its creating process, and I followed at a distance each and every evolution of each of these tracks, that felt a bit like mine.
Like many great artists, Max is not afraid to share and seek opinions about his work: has the full and deserved awareness of its value as a composer and is just curious to get feedbacks on his music. In this sense it was easy and playful to be part of his entourage. The quality of this work is very high: elegant, refined, yet simple and holding a sense of boyish candor, with a childlike wonder at the magic of objects, making them all fairy, animistic.
I decided to give Max this video as a gift to close the circular path of our cooperation. When we talked about shooting it, it was clear for both of us that we wanted to show his old enchanted world. So he took a number of things from his home in San Marco, and my job was to represent them in the most imaginative and sculptural way possible, alternating them with images of the Italian giant musician Andrea Chimenti, and Fuschetto’s muse of the Arberesh world, Antonella Pelilli.
I was really happy to end this way my work on the album, especially because it was already very happy our collaboration for my short film, “Midsommar”, which Max has composed around the theme, and that has had a great feedback, being also selected for several international festivals. It was only natural, as well as beautiful, return to this path of artistic exchange.
